Need help choosing a baby sling?
I am having a baby in a couple of weeks and am looking for a sling for the baby that I can use to keep my hands free for my one year old, while still connecting with the baby and keeping he/she comfortable. I bought the boppy sling but just read some bad reviews about it. There are so many options- any suggestions?

Never buy the commercial brands you can get at most stores, Bjorn, Evenflo, EddieBauer, ect. They are fine for the first 15lbs. Then, they are horrible for your back. Also, it isn’t ergonomic for babies to have their legs hanging down – they should be curled up to more of a sitting position.

Pros:
Very easy to use
Okay for nursing
Excellent for quick trips/errands
Versatile – can be used for newborns carry, upright carry, hip carry
Cons:
Weight distributed to only one shoulder – not as comfortable for a heavier baby/toddler
Accurate size is important – can be difficult to determine correct size
Parents/caregivers can’t share pouch if they are different sizes
Ring Sling
Pros:
Good for quick trips/errands
Excellent for discreet nursing and quick adjustment
Versatile – can be used for newborn carry, upright carry, hip carry – good with toddlers
Adjustable – can be used by parents/caretakers of different sizes
Cons:
Weight distributed to only one shoulder – not as comfortable for a heavier baby/toddler
Some learning curve, must get used to adjusting fabric through the rings
Mei Tai
Pros:
Weight distributed over both shoulders – good for heavier babies/toddlers
Easy to use
One size fits most – (some may need XL straps)
Great for back carries; versatile – can do high back carry
Cons:
Not as good for a newborn, but can be done by rolling the body of the carrier to make it shorter
WRAP
Pros:
Two-shouldered carry – very comfortable for babies/toddlers of any size
Great for nursing
Very versatile – many different carries possible, front, back, or hip
Can pre-tie and pop baby in and out for quick errands
Cons:
Some learning curve, especially for back carries
Long piece of fabric can be intimidating and bulky to store (Exception: rebozos, which are short wraps, fold up very small.)
